Exploring costume, wigs and all things drag.

Identity is wrapped in a human-shaped shell that is in turn covered with layers of clothing, makeup, wigs and other disguises. What is really at the centre, the essence of a person. Are we all about more than what we see on the surface?

Drag queens have always been at the forefront of activism - gay rights, equal marriage rights, HIV/AIDS prevention and social justice - this work will champion drag, costume and performance as armour and warfare. Imagine a world where the leaders of social change are always the most fabulous creatures!

I plan for this to be a multi-piece body of work combining soft sculpture, banner-making, quilting and costume.
